Happy Trails Lulu

My mom's little fur buddy Lulu passed away last night (8/10/2009). She went to be with her best buddy Maggie ( pictured below) who passed away July of 2007. Mom called me tonight and let me know. She's so strong at handling heartache. Seems to be handling it a lot better than I could.
She passed in her sleep as Maggie did a few years back. Had a good life and lived to be 12 years old and got to spend over 10 or 11 of those years with my mom.

Mom and aunt Eva rescued her from a puppy mill back in 98 or 99. She was kept in a really small cage with hardly any human contact for the first year or so before mom came along.

Mom saw her and it was love at first sight. She's been an inside dog ever since. Got to stay in the cool of air conditioning and my mom makes the best chicken concoction to mix in with their dry food. Lulu loves to eat.

She got breakfast every morning and mom would even give her a taste of something at lunch, and of course she got supper too!

My sister's boxer Missy has been her companion since Maggie passed away. Missy would come over and stay with her every day while sis and bro-in-law were at work. Mom said Missy could tell something was wrong with Lulu yesterday and wouldn't leave her side. Guess I need to get sis to send me some pics of Missy.

Here's the Link back when Maggie passed. Here's another Link for pictures of Lulu too!

We love you Lulu and you were dearly loved and will me missed by us all!

Thanks Jan
I've had one of those days when everything goes wrong, and then mom called with her bad news.
Then all my troubles seemed so petty.
I wanted to wait an do a tribute when I wasn't so brain dead, but couldn't sleep if I didn't put up a post in honor of Lulu.
When I need a good laugh.....I just think of the comment my friend Rick made of Lulu the first time he saw her...."What's that? A football with legs"!!!!LOL
You have to know him. He is a true dog lover!
I wish I could hug her one last time. Butt breath and all!!!!

thought i'd share one of my favorite quotes—

If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.

Oh crap, first Chrissy's post, and now this? Poor Gen has to get her blood drawn 3 times on Friday, to test her for Cushing's disease. I want her for at least 3 or 4 more years, but I'm worried she won't last that long. :( Crap.

I'm so sorry about Lulu. You have my condolences, as does your mom. Give your sweet girls an extra hug and a pat for me today, k? And maybe take them for a ride in their stroller?

I whole heartedly agree with the Will Roger's quote.
I stopped by you blog and did a blog word search for Nigel.
I sure enjoyed all the lovely photos of your furbabies.
Nigel and Kinsington...what a pair!
Be sure and thank them for the smiles they gave me today!
Thank you so much for stopping by!

I know what you mean. I'm praying for at least 5 more years with my girlie dogs?
Poor Gen, she's so lucky to have you guys care for her.
Condolences, pats, and hugs will surely be handed out in your's and Gen's honor. And please give Gen a big ol' hug from us too!

So sorry for your loss. This post had me in tears. It really breaks my heart to lose a canine baby (or any other pet). I keep telling Hubby that when the time comes for Chance to leave us (hopefully after a very long, healthy and happy life), I don't know if I can get another doggie. The pain of losing him and not having him with me would be unbearable.

RIP Sweet Lulu. Hugs for you all, Jimbo.

Thanks Msmamma and C
I went down to S.C. to visit mom this weekend. I know she's got to be lonely without Lulu.
I had Ab & Em w/me and my niece brought her puppy.
So we kept her busy for a little while.
