These stairs hold some unforgetable memories for me. They were almost brand new back in the summer of 74, and they led to a quaint little pier. Sadly the pier was washed away by one of the major hurricanes we've had in the last decade.
I'll never forget that intoxicating night in the summer of 74.
It was a full moon. We had drank until we were giggly. She straddled me as I lay on my back gazing up at her long blonde hair silhouetted by the moonlight behind her. Wow! this is what all my friends were talking about? This is truly heaven! I'm a virgin no more!
There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold And she's buying a stairway to heaven And when she gets there she knows if the stores are closed With a word she can get what she came for
Woe oh oh oh oh oh And she's buying a stairway to heaven
There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure And you know sometimes words have two meanings In a tree by the brook there's a songbird who sings Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven
Woe oh oh oh oh oh And she's buying a stairway to heaven
There's a feeling I get when I look to the west And my spirit is crying for leaving In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees And the voices of those who stand looking
Woe oh oh oh oh oh And she's buying a stairway to heaven
And it's whispered that soon, if we all call the tune Then the piper will lead us to reason And a new day will dawn for those who stand long And the forest will echo with laughter
And it makes me wonder
If there's a bustle in your hedgerow Don't be alarmed now It's just a spring clean for the May Queen
Yes there are two paths you can go by but in the long run There's still time to change the road you're on
Your head is humming and it won't go in case you don't know The piper's calling you to join him Dear lady can't you hear the wind blow and did you know Your stairway lies on the whispering wind
And as we wind on down the road Our shadows taller than our soul There walks a lady we all know Who shines white light and wants to show How everything still turns to gold And if you listen very hard The tune will come to you at last When all are one and one is all To be a rock and not to roll Woe oh oh oh oh oh And she's buying a stairway to heaven
There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold And she's buying a stairway to heaven And when she gets there she knows if the stores are closed With a word she can get what she came for
Great pic! Oh, and great song! That's one of my faves!
LOL! I remember going to high school dances and slow dancing to Stairway to Heaven with my crush. I don't know why we ever danced to that song...it's sooooooooo long AND how do you slow dance to the fast part?! LOL! Good times :)
HAHA! When I was 10, I had a huge crush on my friend's older brother, who was in high school. He and his friends listened to Led Zep and a whole bunch of really cool bands. You're right...it was a bit before my time, but I appreciate lots of types of music. I actually find that a lot of great music came from that time. I'm kind of bothered by the mass produced crap that people keep coming up with nowadays. LOL! There was a certain quality of music back in then. Anyway, I like all kinds of music.
Stairway to Heaven was such a long song! I remember the poor guy who danced with me had neck cramps because I was so short! LOL! I'm 5'1" and he was close to 6 ft tall!
Ohhhhhhhh...Happy Belated Birthday! Your b-day was April 18th?!
LOL! You are too funny! My husband is actually a little older than me. Most days, I don't even notice that there's a little age difference. It's only when he says things like "When I was in high school, you were still in kindergarten!" that I remember that he's a bit older than me! LOL! Oh, or when I mention Glam Rock bands that I was in love with when I was a teenager and he says, "Huh? Who are they??" LOL! You know, Warrant, Skid Row, Mr. Big...
Uncivil = abrupt, bluff, brief, brusque, candid, crusty, curt, discourteous, explicit, forthright, frank, gruff,matter-of-fact, outspoken, plain-spoken, rude, short, snappy, snippety, tactless, trenchant, unceremonious, unmannerly, unpolished, unrefined, and sometimes down right vulgar! Yea, that about sums it up!

Led Zeppelin's Stairway To Heaven Lyrics!
