Sick as a Dog!
I've been a little under the weather these past few days, and it brought to mind the old saying "Im sick as a dog". So I googled the old saying and stole these two pics while searching for info which I put in the comment section!
Below is a picture of Emily taken years ago when she broke out in hives shortly after getting her yearly shots! Now,that's what I call sick as a dog!

I stole the first picture from here

and I can't remember where I got the second picture.
I couldn't really find a link that nailed down where the saying originated!
Just little tid bits like this
"There are several expressions of the form sick as a ..., that date from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Sick as a dog is actually the oldest of them, recorded from 1705; it is probably no more than an attempt to give force to a strongly worded statement of physical unhappiness. It was attached to a dog, I would guess, because dogs often seem to have been linked to things considered unpleasant or undesirable; down the years they have had an incredibly bad press, linguistically speaking (think of dog tired, dog in the manger, dog’s breakfast, go to the dogs, dog Latin — big dictionaries have long entries about all the ways that dog has been used in a negative sense)."
...........................
"If you've ever been very sick, you may have used this expression. Because dogs eat just about anything they find, they often get sick. So it's fitting to describe someone who is not feeling well as being "sick as a dog." Arf!"
.................................
"Could it be that the dog is the only animal that we have the "opportunity" to see vomiting? I'll look the expression up in my reference books and see if there's more to it than that. It's a common expression in America but I'm willing to bet this phrase is very, very old.
Well, cats upchuck too. But dogs are by nature energetic and eager... the contrast when they are sick is dramatic. (Healthy or sick, a bear is gonna be a bear....) Someone once said that dogs are the Uncle Toms of the animal kingdom... the only species that really likes human beings. We reciprocate by projecting on them all sorts of human reactions and emotions ... so I suspect we empathize more when a dog is sick as a dog."

An internet virus is going around. It doesn't affect the computer just the people who go on the internet a lot.
Get well soon.
Thanks Jan
I think I have Google-itus?
Poor Uncivil. I hope you feel better soon, pet.

Awwwwww! That photo of Em...I totally feel her pain. Poor thing! I remember when Chance was sick two years ago with some freak flu bug. Yeah, can you believe that's possible for a dog to get the flu? He didn't eat or drink for 2 or 3 days and he was just so listless and drained of energy. His nose was warm and dry. He looked lifeless. I cried and cried. My poor pooch!
On the evening of day 3 I said I was going to bring him to the vet in the morning. The next morning he was totally fine! Weird!
Ohhhh...Almost forgot! I hope you're feeling better. I thought you'd be feeling better after your vinegar concoctions. Poor Uncivil! :( Come, let us give you a scratch behind the ears. That'll make you feel better! LOL! :)
Feel better. Put on some body armour. (I never got that email btw.) Poor Emily, poor Jimmy. And here I've got all this chicken soup. I'll have a bowl in your honor.

Thanks kitten!

Poor Chance. That's hard to believe that dogs can get our colds or flu like viruses, but that very thing happened to Emily not too long ago while at Miss Civil's house. The vet put her on antibiotics for ten days.
That's why I'm hoping they don't get my germs!!!
Oh, the burden of being the lonely batchelor. I have to settle for cyber scratches behind the ear!!!LOL!!!!
Jeanna
I sent you that body armor email again. Good thing it was still in my sent folder! Too long to do again!
I've been eating egg drop soup from a local resturuant (Jung's Egg Roll Express).
My dad turned me on to it. It's delish. I used to do the chicken noodle soup thing until I discovered Jung's egg drop soup.
The only down side is that every time I look at it.....it reminds me of something I just blew out of my nose?
Jim, my dad makes homemade egg drop soup. He also calls it "bird's nest soup" or something. Have you tried hot and sour soup? That's yummy too...and the touch of hotness might clear up any stuffiness you may have.
C
I love hot and sour soup, but it would be like pouring battery acid down my throat at this particular time? I found that out the hard way with some vinegar the other night!
Would love to try your dad's soup!
Feel better soon. The dog looks so sad in that picture.
Thanks Matt
She was one sick puppy when that picture was taken.
I hate to tell you, James, but I didn't get it. Did you send it to the sbc address? Are you saying you did take the short ass quiz again and came out as Charlie? I just can't picture that.
Here's another scratch.
Jeanna
What can I say? I was "Lost"! I don't think Charlie fits me. OK I sent it to the sbc addy. Maybe I forgot to put your addy in last time? I see where I only sent it once now?
I must have blew out some of my brains with the mucous? Not that there was much to start with!
I refuse to get sick this year. I purchased my bubble last week. It's very quiet in my plastic bubble...
VE
Man, I couldn't imagine you coughing with cracked ribs? I hope you don't get sick too! Where can I purchase one of those bubbles?
Yup. She looks pretty miserable.
Hey her eyes matches your carpet!
Blech. That sucks. I hope you feel better soon, and I'm glad your doggy has long since forgotten her hivey misery.
CK
Yeah, the reflection makes it seem that way.
J
Thanks, and well put with the "Hivey misery".
Jimmy- Hope you feel better soon. Just let the girls hop in bed with you and snuggle a plenty! That picture of Em is priceless! Love it.
Hi Msmamma
I'm all better now. Emily was so pittiful when she broke out! We had to give her benadryl to ease the misery. You should see some of the other pics! Gosh, I would do a post with them, but it breaks my heart to look at them.
Happy Valentine's Day to my favourite red neck in the whole world!!!
Smoochies!!!
Awe. Sorry you're sick. I'm sending "get well soon" vibes your way. Feel the healthiness running over you!
Rachel
I'm feelin' em. I'm feelin' em!
p.s. Hope you feel better soon! happy v-day jimbo!
Feel better!
Aww ya poor thing! Get well soon.xx
Ck, Therese,
Thanks ladys!
And you too Steph!
Haha....couldn't resist that one!
Sorry you are sick. I feel your pain. We've all had the evil virus hit our house too. Poor Emily! She looks so sad. sniff....:(
Hope you feel better soon.
I hope you're not still feeling sick!!
:( I just read how sick you've been. This past week I've been hearing about reports of widespread flu (??) in this area. Sounds like you've had a rough few weeks and that something "bad" definitely grabbed you up! On the brighter side, if it was the flu that 'grabbed ya up', you won't get that flu again.
Rest up and get better!
Down South Friend
